New earths

In March, 2009, NASA started a mission called the Kelper mission, devoted to finding potential planets with liquid water. The Kelper mission have found 4,706 planets (2,326 of these planets found in the first 16 months of the mission). NASA has stated that Kepler-22b (the planet) may have liquid water on it like Earth, making it our closest possible sister planet. As NASA writes, “the planet is 2.4 times the size of Earth, making it the smallest yet found to orbit in the middle of the habitable zone of a star like our sun.” This is just one of thousand's of planets that the Kelper mission have found, some more promising than others, but they all can be our next EARTH.

the gas planets

The gas planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. These planets contain mostly gases, such as hydrogen and helium, and have a relatively small amount of rocky land. These planets have an complex atmospheres and in many cases, giant storms. these planets probably started out as icy rocks, and are able to collect hydrogen and helium. Jupiter and Saturn probably had bigger starting rocks, making it easier to collect these gases. Uranus and Neptune have bigger orbits and are smaller,  it was harder for them to collect hydrogen and helium as efficiently as Jupiter and Saturn. This likely explains why they are smaller than those two planets. Their atmospheres are more “polluted” with heavier elements such as methane and ammonia because they are so much smaller.

doing the science fair

For me, doing the science fair was an enjoyable experience. doing all the experiments, seeing the results and testing what we do not know or haven't thought about is cool. I think that lots of people should do science fair because it helps with their understanding in the world of science.

A report of chapter 1 in Wool to Weka.

I think that the first chapter shows how much New Zealand is improving with its economy and how the people living in New Zealand are coping when we were working at about 115 hours per capita and earning the lowest amount of money, whereas France work the lowest amount of hours and earn the most amount of money. WHAT!!!! So unfair. I mean, we are one of the most hard working places on the planet and we get the least amount of money. COME ON!!!!

The virgin galactic spacecraft is a shuttle that allows people to be able to feel no gravity from outer space. For one ride, it would cost around about 200,000 to 250,000 dollars. Virgin Galactic actually started out as Virgin airlines, owned by Richard Branson. He then started thinking about Making a spaceship to go in to outer space.

There are more than 50,000 people working for virgin galactic company. There are more than 50 countries that have a virgin galactic airport in it.
SOME PEOPLE HAVE SAID THAT ALIENS EXIST. FOR THERE TO BE ALIENS (IF THEY ARE OUT THERE) THERE HAS TO BE PLANETS AND SUNS (STARS.) PEOPLE HAVE SEEN A LOT OF DIFFERENT STARS WITH THE HUBBLE AND SUPER-GIGANTIC TELESCOPES. OUR SUN IS ABOUT 696,000 KM IN DIAMETER. WE ARE ABOUT 6371 KM IN DIAMETER. THAT MEANS THAT WE GO INTO THE SUN AROUND ABOUT 102 TIMES. WE HAVE RECORDED STARS, LIKE SIRIUS A, POLLUX AND HEAPS MORE. BUT THE BIGGEST STAR THAT WE HAVE RECORDED IS THE VY CANIS MAJORIS, WHICH HAS A DIAMETER OF 2,800,000,000 KM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HERE IS A LINK FOR THE PLANET SIZE COMPARISON.
THE SUN TO VY CANIS MAJORIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that is only a tiny, tiny dot to the universe. all the other dots you see in the sky are either stars or suns. quite impressive!

The Hubble space telescope is the best man-made telescope to mankind.  It can  track to up to 2 billion miles into the universe. When It was first launched into space, the  photos that were coming back were all blurry, and the scientists didn't know what was happening. After a while, they found that the lens were a 1/50th of a millimeter out of alignment, and that was why  they were all blurry. Astronausts went up there too fix it and it has been up there ever since 1950's
